Listing

Whenever my world feels out of control, I use lists to regain my sense of power and authority. Those grocery aisles cannot overwhelm me when I know exactly what I am going to get out of them! My chores are less plentiful when jotted on a sticky note.

Lists have been popular for as long as people could count. The Book of Lists proved to be very popular and spawned subsequent volumes and updates. David Letterman’s show includes highly popular Top Ten lists. People magazine has Fifty Most Beautiful People.

There’s a list of the Top 20 Women in Games on Gamasutra too, which includes SOE’s Laralyn McWilliams (lead designer on Free Realms).

The Internet is also home to other lists, including NxE’s Fifty Most Influential ‘Female’ Bloggers. Why the word female is in quotes is anyone’s guess, as it certaily seems that the folks on the list are all women.

Most of the bloggers are techies, some are political blogs. Out of all of the blogs listed, though, I confess to reading only one with any regularity.

It is Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s Yarn Harlot blog.

Go ahead. Laugh. Then knit her snowdrop shawl design. I dare you.

=)
